Bucharest Otopeni Airport to Ploiești: train, car or hotel transfer

How far is Ploiești from Otopeni airport?

The airport is in Otopeni, north of Bucharest, in the direction of Ploiești. Our hotel is about 43 km away, according to Booking.com. Ploiești itself is 60 km north of Bucharest, according to Ploiești City Hall.

Is there a direct train from the airport to Ploiești?

Not at the moment. The airport train runs to Bucharest North (București Nord). According to Bucharest Airports, the trip takes about 20 minutes, with trains every 40 minutes, 24 hours a day. At Bucharest North you change to a train to Ploiești, which stops at Ploiești Sud or Ploiești Vest.

In February 2026, the rail infrastructure company CFR Infrastructură said a direct Ploiești – Henri Coandă Airport train will only be possible after modernisation works in the Bucharest railway hub.

Times and fares change, so check your train on the CFR timetable (Mersul trenurilor, Infofer) before you fly. Ploiești Sud station is about 1.3 km from the hotel in a straight line (measured on OpenStreetMap).

By car or taxi

Between Bucharest and Ploiești you can take the A3 motorway (the Moara Vlăsiei – Ploiești section has been open since 2012, according to CNAIR) or the DN1 national road. The best route from the airport depends on traffic, so use a navigation app.
